(upbeat music) (upbeat music) Welcome to Synchronicity. This week's solo cast is about astrology. Thank you, first, right off the bat, to everyone who has reached out for a free astrology reading. I realize, next time I decide I wanna do something for free, I'm gonna charge like five or 10 bucks because holy shit, people like free stuff, a lot. But I'm glad, I do it for a reason. I don't wanna charge in the beginning because I'm learning this stuff. And man, having done a few of these already, and I'm gonna be doing a lot of them over the coming days, kind of devoted a few days to this out of my schedule to learn astrology in this way, I'm reminded of why I chose to actually do this because this is how you learn.

I'm just, everyone's chart is unique, learning about the placements related to houses, the energies of the planets, the transits, the conjunctions, the aspects. It's just, there's so much to learn and when it's a dynamic interplay, it's wonderful. So for the most part, I'm gonna be delivering audio messages of your reading. For some of you, if there's a particularly nutty chart, or there's something else going on, I may reach out and try to schedule a time with you. So stay tuned for that. If you're hearing this in the early part of the week on September 23rd, happy, autumnal equinox for everyone who's into that type of shit, well, it's happening anyway, even if you're not into it.

That's the truth. I went to the chapel of Sacred Mirrors and Wopinger's, Alex and Allison Gray on Saturday night. It was beautiful, what lovely weather we have. How weird has the weather been in the awesome front if you've been in the Hudson Valley? It's been pretty incredible. So that was fun. We got a lot of astrological things going on. I'm plunging deeply into the astrological waters, but what the fuck is astrology, right? We've spoken about it with some incredibly wise and well-studied and intuitive astrologers, astrologists, whatever term they prefer, we'll go with astrologer. Over the past few months, right?

Juliana got it kicked off going recently. We've spoken to Kathleen Whalen, a Vedic astrologer over the years. We're doing the series with SJ every 28 days or so. There's a lot of stuff going on, but if you're like me, it was really hard to understand. And it kept kind of revolving around me and I didn't quite get it. And then it just started to make a lot of sense. All of a sudden, I was like, "Holy shit, I get it." And then I realized I didn't really get it. There's so much more complicated than I thought it could be, but it's not if you want to put in the time and understand and let it come to you.

So this is how I would describe astrology at this point in my life. It is an energetic map. We've heard people like Jessa speak about this. We've heard very smart mystics throughout the ages say the same thing. And that energetic map can let us know when it's auspicious or maybe inauspicious to take up an event or do something or pursue something in a particular way. Now, how does this interface with something like imagination? If I imagine something and by the act of doing that and feeling and believing it, it naturally unfolds in this world, well, how does that work with astrology? If there's also these energies and planets that are coming down from above and raining us with these kind of energetic fields, how do we mitigate that?

How do we reconcile these two things? And this is how I would describe it. Even something like astrology, which is perhaps the most stable imaginal act that I've seen, just I've come across. It's incredibly stable. People from all over the world throughout all time have looked up to the stars and gleaned info from them and their relationship to them and the Earth and the planets and all of these things. And it's just gotten more and more refined over the years, but there's this purity from the beginning. It's just really stable. But nevertheless, it's an imaginal act. It's no more real than anything else that you choose to believe or not believe.

So if you're an astrologer, that may rub you the wrong way. It shouldn't, it shouldn't at all. I mean, it's just the truth. Everything is an imaginal act in this reality and everything that we experience out there in external reality, including the planets and including everyone else, is preceded by our imaginations and what happens up in a different dimension of consciousness without bodies and when we close our eyes and do an act. So what does this mean, right? I love astrology. I'm getting deeper, deeper into it as I've kind of pulled the trigger of the imagination preceding materiality and looking at this world much more like a dream than a solid thing that we react to and respond to.

That's the effect, not the cause. The reason I love astrology so much is it basically pretend you're Odysseus, right? Let's go to the Odyssey, the Greeks. Love in the Greeks recently and the Romans. Think of this, like the planets in the skies, the names for them, Jupiter, Mars, Neptune. Those are the Roman names for the Greek planets and gods before, right? Jupiter is Zeus, Aphrodite is Venus. They're all there. They're all there. It's super fun. If you're getting a reading from me, you'll hear all about this. But basically, these are real gods or energies. They're real in many different ways.

Like they're not fake. These people weren't just primitive morons. Like some of us may have liked to believe because they're like, oh, maybe even Zeus, a thunderbolt, God, what dummies. It's clearly just nebulous clouds doing a dork voice. But basically, the scientific materialist viewpoint that gods are silly and made up mirages of the human mind may wanna look at that again, folks. May wanna look at these planets as actual representations of deities. Now, what happened in the Odyssey? Pretend you're Odysseus. Odysseus went through a lot of trials and tribulations 'cause he offended the gods. Now, I'm not saying that this God is something that you gotta bow down to Zeus and all of these people.

You're Zeus, you're all the gods. This is what Joseph Campbell's right. All the gods, all the demons, they're within you. It's you. We project them out from within us, onto planets and other things that exist. They become those deities. Zeus is real, Aphrodite is real, Hermes is real. They're all real, but they're us. Now, if you forget that and start thinking that it's some other thing that there's actually someone who's gonna smite you, you may get tripped up. Now, how again does this apply to the actual transits of the planets, are natal charts and how the planets move around, right? Well, there's auspicious times to go on an Odyssey and there's inauspicious times.

There's no predetermined course that astrology will say this has to happen then, but it can say energetically, there may be a better time to go on your trip, your inner exploration than another time, or your outer exploration. You may wanna not ride right into a storm. You may not wanna ride too close to the siren, so you're gonna crash your boat, but you may wanna be like Moana, right? I love Moana so much. Raise your sail at the perfect time, have the wind at your back, and then go take on what's going on. What happened in Moana? Gonna do a hard pivot to Moana from the Odyssey. What did she encounter this big demon rock throwing fire at her?

What happened? I'm gonna get teary-eyed if I think about it too much. She goes up, she sings this beautiful song, she puts her hand on this rock monster's head, and she's like, "Hey, I love you." And the rock monster, this is the best movie Moana, by the way, it's just an incredible movie. It's probably maybe top three. The rock monster reveals itself to be the primordial nature goddess, and she restores Maui's powers, and she gives everyone their land back, and she was just, it was the shadow. It had overcome, and basically it's such a beautiful movie, but basically it gets in touch with her shadow, right?

This big demon monster that was destroying the world, she alchemizes it with love, and then lo and behold, you have the winds at your back all of the time, and that's basically what we're trying to do with the astrology, is figure out energetically when do we put our sails up? When do we pull them down? Why don't we camp out? When do we maybe do something else that we were not doing before, because we're just like, Saturn is fucking with us. Big, heavy time, Chronos, father time is like, "Nah, nah, nah." It doesn't mean you can't pursue what you want, even in those conditions, you just need to be prepared.

You maybe wanna take an extra weather pack, or I don't know, what do people travel on boats with? Extra life jacket, extra provisions, extra food. Astrology can help us with those types of things and strategies, right? That's what I've noticed the biggest practical benefit is, but if you get too caught up in the planets and astrology, or any modality, and you begin to let it guide your life, not in a healthy balance, hey, this is a wonderful tool and energy type of thing, but think that it's some external thing that rules you, that is not what it is. Nothing rules you, but you. It's incredibly awesome astrology, but you have to be able to recognize that you're the gods and you're Odysseus.

Every mythological tale, every single thing in this life, even if it seems overt and literal, is actually you communicating to you about the true nature of reality, which is just that you're writing this story. And you may say, well, how could that be? There's so many other people out there. How could I be writing this story? How could everyone be writing this story? Well, if you really wanna go down that rabbit hole, keep thinking about it, keep pondering it, keep meditating on that, and you'll see, rather than an impossibility, rather than something that logically just doesn't add up, it actually makes the most sense, and can be felt as a direct experience rather than a conceptual reality.

We love at times to live in worlds of ideas and conceptions, and those are real worlds too. But if they become hindrances and prevent you from opening yourself up to other aspects of reality, they're no longer serving you. And this is partially why the ego just gets such a bad rep and listen, ego is a thing, Freud gave it a name, some did it into existence. I mean, it was there all along, but it is not some separate thing from us, it is us. And you don't wanna obliterate and destroy and subdue and beat down your ego. That's not a good thing to do. Even for someone who's an ego maniac, that is not the correct approach.

You want to be able to approach it with love, with care, with tenderness. Go do the Moana thing where you put your hand on the head of the demon rock monster and alchemize it with love into the beautiful natural goddess that she was. Just do that and see what happens in your life. If you can take that Moana approach, if you haven't seen Moana go fucking watch Moana, I don't know what's mad with you. This is appropriate to say fucking watch Moana children's movie, it's just so good. And I'm like, I get a good two into a Moana, it's gonna turn into something else. What I'm saying is this, just carry around the alchemy of love with you.

Not idiot love what Togem Trunko referred to as idiot compassion. Do not be a self-sacrificing martyr if you don't understand why one would want to do that. Because you're probably just setting up a not good energy exchange, right? You're gonna be hurting yourself to help someone else. I mean, there's such thing as self-sacrifice, but if you don't fully understand what that is, I don't know why, don't do that. So anyway, astrology, basically it's the coolest. I highly recommend everyone get familiar with their natal chart, right? Your birth chart. Here's all you need to get started with that. You need your birth day, you need your birth time, and you need your birth location.

Now, some people don't have their birth time and I'll tell you why it's worth tracking it down, even if it seems like an Odyssean impossibility to get through it. You get your houses reveal themselves and your houses relate to a lot of different aspects of your life and can be incredibly helpful in terms of determining what's going on with the transiting of the planets, how they're moving through the zodiac and also related to your natal chart. So definitely track that down. You can go to places like astro.com, sign up for a free account, enter your data, load up all of the asteroids that you recognize and some that you don't and just go start studying which gods and goddesses and energies live in different astrological signs.

It's a very deep and seemingly complex mountain, deep and tall mountain, but it's so great. It's so great. It really can help you. I'm sure you've noticed. If you're listening to this podcast, I'm sure you've noticed astrology is making a major comeback all through mainstream culture, subcultures, people get it. You can look at it and be like, that's weird, huh? And kind of be like, oh, whatever. Or you can be like, why is this happening? What wave is happening here? What can this actually tell me? So do it. Check it out. I will probably need some more time before I start opening up my books to astrology.

However, if you sign up for Taro stuff, I definitely am starting to include this big time into those readings because I'm listening to a wonderful book that I highly recommend, The Essence of the Taro and who wrote it? I'm gonna look this up right now because she's so good and the woman who narrates it is so awesome and perfect. Oh, I love it so much. It's The Essence of the Taro by Megan. Oh my God, why'd they put the thing over her name? It's called Essence of the Taro. Megan's something, I can't see what it is. They put only from Audible over her last name. Go check that out, but what she basically is laying out is that each major arcanicard is associated with a planet, a zodiac sign, and a path.

And for instance, for instance, we have Hermes, Mercury, and Venus, Aphrodite hanging out right now in Libra. It's September 23rd, the terminal equinox has happened and they're doing this amazing balancing dance in Libra. So Mercury/Harmys is associated with the magician in the Taro and the path is discipline, right? But the Empress, the third card in the Major Arcana is Venus, and she's right there with Hermes, Mercury, and Aphrodite and Hermes are right together in Libra right now, and her path is love. So you have this discipline path of love, this balancing act going on, and they'll separate in November.

Mercury is going to go retrograde and they'll go their separate ways and do their separate dance. But if you understand anything about Hermes and Venus, like it's just, ah, shit is the best, is all I'm saying. And how you can apply this to your life is when you get familiar with these different modalities, they just open up different dimensions and possibilities for how you experience your life, right? If we're only looking at it from our own, I am no up perspective, and this is my life. It doesn't, there's the dork voice again. You know, don't, it's, you just expand. It's a Sagittarius moon in me recommending you do that, but you'll like it.

So anyway, this is astrology, this is the Odyssey, this is everything. Thank you to everyone who has rated and reviewed, rated, rated, rated, rated and reviewed recently. I love seeing those, they're really appreciated. Sign up for the mailing list. It's pretty cool. We got a lot of people on there. I'm gonna start sending out some more regular emails. I'm sure you've noticed they've been coming hot and heavy at the beginning, and then holy shit, stuff's been going on. So, tarot readings are open, there'll be astrology in them. I'll let you know when I fully am feeling I've groked astrology, and then we can incorporate that into the podcast in a lot more ways, and also, you know, what I'm doing out there on the side.

I'm gonna change the tarot tab to readings, just because these are getting more expansive than just the tarot. So, that's going on. Thanks for tuning in this episode. Questions, another Q&A episode is coming up really quickly, 'cause people have questions. Also, success stories. I am not skirting this at all. Probably in November. I want, when I make my LA trip, I have a very big success story that I'm gonna be sharing with in person. I'll share my own success stories as well. People ask me, this is a question that comes in. They're like, hey, you know, I see on the survey on the site. Like, share more of your success stories.

I will, I will, I will. Don't worry. I am not sharing as many of them, 'cause I don't want this to be kind of like a braggadocious, like, look what I am doing. Look how great I am. I know that's just an internal kind of block in some ways from my own end, but there's some pretty fucking amazing shit going on. So, don't worry. I will share it when the time is right. That's it. That's it for this week's solo cast. I'm pretty sure I'm only doing one. I said that last week and ended up doing three. I have a lot of guests to get through over the next few weeks, so we may get two guests in one week. So, we'll see, we'll see what happens.

This is the beginning of the week. It's awesome. Love you. Happy imagining. (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) (upbeat music)
