Take it from someone who knows, it's easy to get carried away when you start to see how imaginal acts actually work.

All of a sudden you have magical powers at your disposal.

That's fucking cool.

But how do you stay grounded and make sure you're not pushing too hard or too fast?

How do you stay humble when you know everything you've ever dreamed of is at your fingertips?

For me, it comes down to external support systems (friends and family) AND staying true to myself.

Having an ethical framework you carry around with you is crucial so you don't create more harm for yourself or "others."

This life can present us with a multitude of challenges.

Ultimately, these challenges are there to help us see the opportunities that await us and to help us become the best versions of ourselves.

Remaining humble helps us communicate truths and wisdom more effectively. Humbleness is also a handy safeguard against collapsing into a negative state that holds you back from your true potential.

The other concept covered in this episode is the wisdom of stillness.

Let's face it, I have a shitload of energy and enjoy moving it around internally and externally. So for me it's been challenging to embrace stillness as not just a concept, but when appropriate, a way of life.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is remain perfectly still in the eye of the storm and wait for more auspicious times to move. For highly active people this can be easier said than done, but perhaps, even more important.

Welcome to synchronicity.

This has been a crazy, crazy, crazy, eclipse season. Do we know what eclipse season? Well, if you're listening in the future, like what the heck is this guy talking about? I'm talking about the period of, I think it was late June or early July to August 2nd, 2019. Holy shit, I guarantee we'll be able to look back at this episode and be like, no, it was right, that was crazy. Look what happened, the holy shit. And I'm talking about personally, but I imagine pretty much for everyone, it's just been really, really not. So the reason this episode is a little late, it's not because I'm lazy. Our newborn, Gabriel, is in the hospital right now.

He has RSV, which is a viral infection. He's gonna be okay, he's gonna be okay, but he is there. And it's just been like crazy, right? One thing I will say about all of this imaginal stuff, it doesn't necessarily invalidate the things that you have already imagined for yourself to make you recognize opportunities or grow or change or gain added perspective. So that's important to keep in mind. I mean, yeah, maybe at some point we move into the perfect utopia. And I would like to say that like, all of my dreams are still coming true, but we do live in this world of mortality. Blake, William Blake referred to it as a shadow of the real world.

It's the world of death. And it's not scary or bad or any reason, it's just where we are. So one of the cool things is, is that when we get a handle on who we are, we can navigate these waters a little bit easier. I was kind of freaking me out a little bit, is I'm pretty naturally calm about things that I would have imagined in the past. I'd be very nervous about an infant in a hospital. I know he's gonna be okay. I can see the signs, I can see the doctors, I can see how it's being treated, and he's quite okay and will be okay. So that's great, but obviously a tough situation to go through. But today, what I would like to talk about is something I am learning quite a bit.

And it's the power of staying humble and staying still. So humbleness and stillness. These are concepts, so I recently got into the Yiching. I never understood it before, but I'm just popping open random pages based on random times and just letting it do its thing. And man, it's good. So let's talk about humbleness. I am kind of humble, not really most of the time. When I realized that imagination creates reality, I think I got very excited, I don't think it. I know I got very excited and I still am very excited and realize that this is kind of game changing stuff. But some of the things and some of the ways I communicated it to maybe people who didn't fully understand that or weren't ready or just didn't like what they were hearing, you know, I think that I should be more respectful of where everyone else is coming from.

And when I say me, obviously I'm talking about you, I'm talking about everyone. It's just a good virtue to cultivate. Listen, I have an ego. I wouldn't be me if I didn't have an ego. You wouldn't be you if you didn't have an ego. I love my ego. But I think revisiting that vision, I had so weird, why am I so weird? That vision I had of, I was in the woods, there was a fire, there was a wolf circling around me, snarling, you know, so just like scary as shit. But I wasn't scared and it came closer, still snarling. And then I told it to sit, then I pet it, and then I loved it and cuddled it. And that is your ego.

But you have to get to the point where you're loving and cuddling it and recognizing that it's not just your servant to go like shred up a deer or something, what do wolves do? They do cool stuff. Anyway, that's important, staying humble. 'Cause I've been talking about a lot about the magical upwards kind of transcendent aspects of imagination, but don't forget, we wanna cultivate the earthly ones too, right? We wanna connect with this world. And one of the ways we do that is by connecting with others, staying true to ourselves, and quite frankly, just being a good person and doing the right things regardless of how difficult the situation is.

That's what we're supposed to do. I know that. So staying humble is really important. And I don't wanna mistake like don't, someone can be confident and humble. There's a way to do that, right? You don't wanna make the misapprehension that you have to be like willy-nilly about everything and just whatever someone else says. And oh yeah, no, it's not me. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm just saying like don't check ego sometimes. And I'm talking to myself as much as anyone else. You get that. Next thing, this has been real tough for me, is staying still, stillness. Holy shit, that's not easy for me.

I like to move, I like to move internally. I like to move externally now. I just like to move. But taking a beat, staying still, learning to kind of stand in the eye of the hurricane. Oh man, this was fucking great. It's awesome. That's all I can say. It's really, really, really, really good to try to practice that, especially if you're a person who is constantly on the move, either internally or externally, both one or the other, you know what I'm talking about. It's just one of those things that really helps you stay connected and grounded to who you are. Again, going back to the eaching. I forget which one it pulled, but it was like, this is the least auspicious thing you can get.

It's like, oh, great. And I just kept reading it 'cause I wanted to learn more about it. I didn't even, I wasn't mad and be like, oh fuck no. But I read it. And then at the end, it says listen, people who can remain still, people who can weather this, this is actually the sign of the greatest potential. And I think that's really just a great allegory for the ability to stay still at the appropriate times. There's a time for movement, there's a time for stillness, you know? That balance, that harmony is really, really key towards, again, why am I saying all this? Because when you wake up, when you begin to wake up, I know that's a phrase that's completely overused, but when you really start to do it, everything is communicating something to you always.

And what it's communicating is wake up to who you are, wake up to the best possible version of yourself. And every way that means, every possible human faculty, skill, talent, quality that you are supposed to have and to make you feel like you, that's why we're doing this stuff. There's no other reason. And there's a lot of things in the world. There's money, there's love, there's power, there's sex, there's all these things. But really, those things don't mean shit unless you really can fulfillingly feel those, right? Anyway, so that's all, it's a short one today. It's not that long. I don't need to over-expand on any of this.

If you haven't heard the imaginal techniques though, please go check that out. I don't know what episode it is on, seven back or something. There is a podcast coming, a recorded one, recorded several, but I have to edit it. And I don't have the time, 'cause I gotta go to the hospital now. But everything is okay. Please know that, do not get worried, do not get freaked out. It's just no point, that's all. That's the only reason. Feel free to send love and prayers. Those totally work, maybe speed it up a little bit, but we're good. That's it, and I will see you next week.
